Andaman Honeymoon Cost (2026): What Couples Actually Spend, Island by Island

Couples routinely ask us to compare an Andaman honeymoon with Bali or the Maldives, and the honest answer surprises them: for the quality of sea you get, the Andamans are the best value of the three. A six-night honeymoon costs ₹85,000 to ₹1,20,000 per couple at a comfortable mid-range standard, ₹60,000 to ₹75,000 for careful budgets, and ₹2 lakh to ₹2.75 lakh for the genuinely luxurious version with a Radhanagar-front resort. No passport, no visa, no currency exchange, no international roaming — and water that embarrasses most of Southeast Asia.

Flights: the largest and most volatile line

Veer Savarkar International Airport at Port Blair is served by direct flights from Chennai and Kolkata (around two hours) and by direct or one-stop services from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Two rules govern Andaman airfares. First, book eight to ten weeks ahead for the December–January and post-wedding-season windows, when fares can double. Second, take a morning arrival into Port Blair even at a premium of a thousand rupees or so — the ferries to Havelock run in daylight, and a late landing costs you a night marooned in Port Blair that would be better spent by the beach.

The ferries: book these before your flights, not after

The crossing from Port Blair to Havelock (officially Swaraj Dweep) takes 90 minutes to two hours on private catamarans — Makruzz, Nautika, and Green Ocean are the established operators — and costs ₹1,200 to ₹2,500 per person depending on class and operator. Havelock to Neil (Shaheed Dweep) is a short hop of ₹900–1,500, and Neil back to Port Blair completes the triangle.

The counsel we give every couple: premium class is worth the few hundred rupees on a honeymoon (forward seating, less engine drone), and ferries in peak season sell out days in advance. We book clients' ferries the moment flights are confirmed, and you should do the same. Government ferries exist at a fraction of the price, but their booking process demands physical queueing in Port Blair and their schedules serve residents, not itineraries.

Where to stay: the decision that defines the honeymoon

Concentrate your nights on Havelock, give Neil one or two nights for its silence, and treat Port Blair as a transit point rather than a destination. Rates below are per couple per night.

The honest hierarchy at the top end: the flagship resort beside Radhanagar Beach is the Andamans' one true luxury address and prices accordingly; a tier below sit the boutique eco-luxury properties with private beach access that most of our honeymoon clients ultimately choose, at roughly half the tariff. At every level, insist on air-conditioning and a private balcony or sit-out — the island evenings are the point of the trip.

What the days cost

• Food: beach cafés and seafood shacks on Havelock charge ₹400–700 per person per meal; resort dining runs higher. Budget ₹1,800–2,500 per couple per day. The grilled catch-of-the-day at the Beach No. 5 shacks remains, in our view, the best meal in the islands at any price.
• Scooter rental: ₹450–600 per day on Havelock and Neil, and the correct way to reach Radhanagar for sunset. Carry your licence; checks are routine.
• Private cab, full day: ₹2,500–3,500 — sensible for the Port Blair sightseeing day, unnecessary on the smaller islands.
• Connectivity: be forewarned rather than disappointed — mobile data remains slow and patchy outside Port Blair despite recent improvements. Resorts have Wi-Fi of varying temperament. Most couples conclude within a day that this is a feature.

Experiences worth the money

Scuba diving is the Andamans' crown. A Discover Scuba Dive for beginners — no certification required — costs ₹3,500–6,000 per person depending on operator and site, and Havelock's dive schools are professional, safety-conscious, and accustomed to first-timers. Couples who are certain the sea agrees with them can complete an open-water certification here for ₹22,000–28,000, among the cheapest anywhere in Asia.

Beyond diving: the candlelight beach dinner every resort offers (₹4,000–8,000, and yes, it is worth doing once); sea walking at Elephant Beach for the non-swimmer (₹3,000–3,500); kayaking through the bioluminescent mangroves on a new-moon night (₹2,500 per person, and the single most-photographed memory our clients bring home — although the photographs never do it justice); and the Cellular Jail light-and-sound show in Port Blair (₹300), which supplies the history the beaches lack.

Skip: glass-bottom boats when snorkelling is available; North Bay's crowded water-sports circus if your itinerary already includes Elephant Beach.

The complete budget: six nights, per couple

Assuming Chennai or Kolkata departure, three nights Havelock, two nights Neil, one night Port Blair:

Delhi and Mumbai couples should add ₹6,000–12,000 to the flight line. Even so, the mid-range total undercuts an equivalent Maldives honeymoon by well over a lakh — the comparison we are asked to make most often, and the one the Andamans win most decisively.

When to go

October to May is the season, with December to February its finest stretch — dry days, calm seas, and visibility that flatters both the snorkeller and the photographer. Book that window early and pay peak tariffs knowingly. March to May is hotter but quieter and kinder to the budget. The monsoon months of June to September bring rough seas, suspended ferries, and shuttered dive schools; whatever the discounts, we do not send honeymooners then, and we would be doing you no favours by pretending otherwise.

A final practical note: Indian citizens require no permit for Port Blair, Havelock, or Neil. Foreign nationals in the party should check the current permit position; for an Indian couple, the islands are as paperwork-free as a holiday gets.
