Is Thailand visa-free for Indian passport holders?
No — not since May 2026. Thailand withdrew its 60-day visa-free entry for Indians. You now enter on a Visa on Arrival (up to 15 days, THB 2,000 paid in cash at the airport) or a Tourist e-Visa applied for online before travel (60 days). The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is also mandatory, completed free online within 72 hours before arrival.
Which countries can Indians visit without a visa?
Fully visa-free entries for ordinary Indian passports currently include Nepal (no limit), Bhutan (permit and daily fee apply), Mauritius (60 days), Kazakhstan (14 days), Malaysia (30 days, confirmed until 31 December 2026, with the free MDAC arrival card), the Philippines (14 days with conditions), Macao (30 days) and Hong Kong (14 days with free pre-arrival registration). Several more offer free or paid visas on arrival.
Is Sri Lanka's visa really free for Indians now?
Yes — since 25 May 2026 the 30-day tourist ETA is completely free for Indian citizens and allows double entry. The ETA itself is still mandatory: apply at the official eta.gov.lk portal before flying. Sites charging a fee for it are resellers or fakes.
Do Indians need a visa for Bali?
Indians receive a Visa on Arrival in Indonesia: about IDR 500,000 (roughly ₹2,600) for 30 days, extendable once. An e-VoA can also be purchased online in advance to skip the counter queue.
Can Indians get a visa on arrival in Dubai?
Only conditionally. Indians holding a valid US, UK, EU, Australia or Canada visa or residence permit qualify for a 14-day visa on arrival in the UAE. Everyone else needs a pre-arranged UAE visa through official channels or their airline before travelling.
Do Indians need the UK ETA or Europe's ETIAS?
No — both apply only to visa-exempt nationalities, which India is not. Indians continue to need the standard UK Visitor Visa (now issued digitally as an eVisa) and the standard Schengen visa for Europe. Any website selling an Indian traveller a UK ETA or ETIAS is selling something that does not exist.
What is the cheapest international trip for an Indian passport?
On total cost and paperwork combined: Nepal (no visa, flights under two hours, weeks from ₹30,000) and Sri Lanka (free ETA, 90-minute flights from Chennai, weeks from ₹45,000) lead the field, with Vietnam and Malaysia close behind.
How early should I apply for a visa before my trip?
As a working rule: e-visas (Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Japan) two to three weeks before travel; embassy visas (Schengen, UK, Singapore, Turkey sticker) six to eight weeks; the US visa as early as possible, since interview waits vary by months between consulates.
